Make Me a Quilt : Martha R

Cherries Jubilee
Hand dyed silks, cottons and commercial striped silk
Fused, hand embroidered, machine quilted
18" square

I am so pleased with how this turned out, and I feel it is in keeping with my goal of 'doing better work in 2014". Can't go wrong with primary colors!

  4. Hello Melody, I just read an older post on how you fix and later quilt your quilts. Please tell me: The very thin strips are just fused and never sewn down by hand and as I understood only a bit away from their rim. Won't they loosen after some time? Maybe when the quilt is handled? Of course it will hang on the wall ------and should not be "handled". Thanks you for eventually answering my question.

  5. The rich, saturated colors are simply glorious! This quilt screams "Melody Johnson" to me...really showcases your talent for putting just the right colors together with incredible shapes and lines. I could just look at this quilt and drool all day!
