Domicile
Hand dyed cottons and silks, fused, machine quilted, 16 3/8 x 18 1/2"
Claire asked for curves, a house shape, high contrast, citrus colors plus turquoise, purple and maybe a little red. And she liked the quilting on my quilt Sydney, so I made sure to design a piece that had lots of room for quilting. I wanted to include both cotton and silk and was able to find just the right colors to fill her request. To find inspiration for this design, I browsed through my old sketchbooks and found this sketch which I thought would fit the bill, but consultations with contractors and shopping for insulation, electrical fixtures and drywall kept me from getting started. Finally I had an afternoon and most of a day free, and I got down to the artwork. Yay! It's finished.
oooh! I Love love LOVE this one! The simple house shape with those graphic curves, it all works so well together!!!!

ReplyDeleteMelody, Domicile arrived safely and happily in my mailbox late yesterday afternoon, and I dropped everything I was doing to unwrap it and get it hung! It looks glorious, as I expected. It is hanging in a the most visible spot in the house, prominent and beaming! As soon as I get my camera fixed, I'll snap a pic! Streaming deep and wide appreciation for your glorious genius Self! Thank you, Melody, this "Make Me a Quilt" idea was a brilliant idea!!
