Prairie Sky

Prairie Sky

hand dyed cottons, fused, hand embroidered, machine quilted. 20x22" $350 Email me

I wasn't planning on making a quilt, since my studio was a mess and needed to be cleaned up. I was organizing my fabric to put it away, when I stacked some smaller pieces in a pile and got INSPIRED. What a collection of beautiful colors I had unknowingly set aside.
Should I clean or should I design? Right, I passed on the cleaning. It was already late when the top was finished, so I got up early today to hand stitch it and quilt it. Done by 8am and ready to photograph.   Here's a detail.

  1. What a beautifully vibrant quilt...and done in a day, you clever thing.
Don't you get sick of those gate crashers leaving their ominous messages? I feel really sad that some people go to such desperate measures to snare the unwary...
But your quilts always make me smile.

  2. Melody, the colors are wonderful, and the name fits to a T. I didn't see the name at first and wondered what you could call it. I knew it had to have something to do with those clouds. Sure enough, you zeroed right in on that feature.

  3. It's funny how inspiration hits sometimes. I'm glad you sewed instead of cleaned!

  4. You know I've always thought your work is FABULOUS, but what most impresses me is that you get stuff done hours before I'm even out of bed!

  5. You never know when inspiration will strike. Glad you went with it instead of continuing the clean. Cleaning can always happen later - but I have found, not TOO much later or it is out of control! Great quilt, I hope it finds a home quick
