The Anti-Border Solution

I began cutting down the borders around each block  to 3/4" and then adding a narrow strip of striped patchwork to connect each block. To make it all fit, I had to allow some of the borders to remain larger than that teeny 3/4". To get the length I wanted (60") I added some strips to the edges, and later after this is all quilted and connected, more borders will be added to increase the size. At this point it measures 53"x60". I'll be quilting the four strips, individually and then attaching them with narrow connector strips. (Click for a close-up look).

I very much like the borders. I think even the teeny ones define the interior stripes. In the very first version with the squares next to each other, the stripe-y ness was lost. Nice progress!

  5. Yes, it really works. The narrow strips allow the stripes to carry through to the outside ones. I love it!
