Stacked Lines
Hand dyed cottons, fused, machine quilted. 34x40" $500

This is a quilt that I made in 2008 and never quilted until yesterday. I don't know what prevented it originally, since I was already here, and retired. Perhaps I didn't understand its artistic value then. It is so simple and clear compared to the other things I was making at the time. Now I see it as a strong statement, no fiddle faddle!
Or I may not have quilted it because straight line quilting hadn't entered my consciousness yet. So it was right to wait, and now is THE TIME.
I am so glad to have resurrected it.

Where have these quilts been hiding? Up in the garage attic. I sent Dave up there and he brought down a huge bag of mostly finished work, with only a few unquilted pieces in the mix.
I plan to go through the collected works and featured them on the blog in future days.
By the way, I see that I have now 900 followers!!! How thrilling, and so glad to have you here visiting me. It is so encouraging. Thanks!
We love you Melody, because you share so much of your wonderful and colorful work, so that's why you have so many followers. But, did you know that there are 1,650 people subscribed to your blog with Google Reader? (That includes the 900, btw.)
ReplyDeleteI just checked your stats on google reader and there you have 1650 "subscribers"!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love that blue, purple, green piece!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised you have so many blog followers your work is gorgeous and really inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAs one of your 900 followers, I must tell you that I enjoy your blog every day. From the quilts to the paintings, to the gardens and sweet doggies, I love it all! Oh, and I'm still waiting for your hubby to sled down the mountain.
ReplyDelete900 followers is awesome! And to think I was excited because I'm up to a six followers on my art blog, and three on my humor blog! Tee-hee-hee! 900 is REALLY worth getting excited about!
Have a fantastic day Melody,
D~~~~
Just so you know...yours is the first blog I check every morning! Here in our humble little granny flat in New Zealand your work is oohed and aahed over. It never fails to impress so just keep going, okay?
ReplyDeleteI, for one, can not wait to see what is in the "attic bag". Bet you find some old friends and old - not so friendly tops in there....
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I am listed as a follower or not. Just know that I,too, check you blog first every day. It is so bright and witty that I just have to have my "fix" first thing. A disappointing day when nothing new is there. Rock on Melody!
ReplyDeleteDid you cut those wiggly strips for SeaBreezes free hand with a rotary cutter? Are they fused on and then machine quilted at the edge?
ReplyDeleteI, too, read you every day. Glad to see you quilting again.
I'm gone to say to my little brother, that he should also pay a visit this webpage on regular basis to take updated from most up-to-date reports.
