I had to make a choice about where to begin: make a functional quilt or make an art quilt? Of course art quilt won out. I haven't done one in so long and I think I am ready to exercise my artier side. Looking at my collected fabrics, and finding these vivid colors raised my internal temperature and got my juices flowing.
But Dave and I were having a date day at the movies (Skyfall, YUM!) and so I had only an hour and 15 minutes to get started on something before we had to leave. No hemming and hawing, I had to jump right in! One thing led to another and I found luscious combinations to put together and then we had to go.
We got back from the movie about 4:30 and I went right back to the studio. So excited.
I finished the top and then waiting til early this morning to do the hand embroidery, using perle cotton and then spent the rest of the day machine quilting it.

ReplyDeleteIncredible! Your colors are fabulous, and the design is a real beauty! Now on to the next one...
ReplyDeleteI love it! Especially that green- to-yellow piece! And your quilting! You obviously were "in the zone" while making this piece. Another instance of when a web-cam would be so fun! :)
