Stacked Stripes

Stacked Stripes
Hand dyed cottons, fused, machine quilted. 18" square. $250. Email me.

I couldn't wait to get back into the studio this morning. The 'good' fabrics I  have been saving for something special are just what I wanted to use in this new composition. They made it doubly exciting to select and arrange. My old Stack series idea was a natural way to collect these textures and colors. And I had lots of striped blocks to add to the mix. Bringing in a section of fancy quilting was just the fun touch to bring it all to happy finish.
Hard to believe I am doing real binding!

  1. What exciting pieces! I love the bold colors and uncomplicated designs. No, uncomplicated is not the right word--more like straightforward and dynamic. The "igloo" quilting design (upper L section) is one I have tried so hard to master, only to have mine look more like elephant trunks.
A question--the igloos are free-motion, whereas the straight lines are with feed dogs engaged, right?

  2. I'm so in love with this fusing and bright colors after taking a class from Frieda in MN.
Your quilting is so straight and perfect, even close-up. What thread are you using?
