A Bit More Dyeing

Since the studio was all set up for dyeing, I figured that I should do some more colors. I am still in the pastel mood and it's good thing, as my yellows are dwindling, and I will need to get more dyes if I am to do intense colors. I did run out of Yellow #1 (Dharma Trading colors). I couldn't wait to see if my new colors would work with my Kaffe Fassett prints. Yup, they do!

These yellow-soft orange fabrics have been waiting for something to spark them up.

And then the REDS!!! I now have lights to coordinate with the lights in the prints. Contrast, ever so important.
And I haven't even unrolled the new stuff yet! What wonders await my eyes?
I just discovered a fellow fuser, Kathleen Probst whose work has gotten me all excited. Here's one I pinned early this morning. Wings #7.

There are things you can do with fusing that would be a real headache to piece or applique. O yes.

  1. A feast for the eyes, delicious.

  2. Yum!! I LOVE the reds and oranges! It'll be fun to see what you do with all these beautiful fabrics!

  3. What great eye candy!!! Would love to fondle your fabric... They match perfectly with the Kaffe fabrics.

  4. Oh, what fun to come and play at your house!

  5. Thanks for sharing all the dyeing inspiration & Kathleen Probst link too!

  6. Your colors are lovely as usual. I'm always amazed at how fast you can dye your fabric, or get anything else done for that matter. I always feel like it takes me a long time. But I have gotten faster over the years. I did use your technique on this last dye session.

Kathleen is my friend and we just had an opening for our artwork called Textiles x Two.

  7. Oh boy... All those pretty colours. But I have work to do and I really don't want to set up my fourth dye studio in the last five years, get all the buckets and containers and dyes and fixatives and yadda yadda yadda. All this moving gets tiresome after a while.

  8. So glad you found Kathleen, she's a friend and last night I went to an opening of a show of her work and that of another friend Lisa Flowers Ross.
Love the dyed fabrics with the Kaffe fabrics.

  9. Will you be offering any of your hand dyes for sale this time?

Wish I could get up enough courage to dye some fabric for myself. There's nothing like those colors! You do a wonderful job!

  11. Thanks Melody. I understand.

As usual, Melody, you have created your own lovely art materials! I look forward to your blog posts every morning. You have inspired me to get going in my dyeing studio and I have been turning out some exciting pieces the last two days! Thanks again for sharing your days with us!!
