Maple Leaf Jacket

I started this knit back in early March, as an experiment in designing a neckline that would fit me better. I got what I thought would work and then got distracted by more Springy knitting, and put it aside. Then last week I was caught with nothing to knit, so I picked up the abandoned start and began again.
Turns out it was just the thing for Autumn, and it was so fun to make. It's all sock yarns, held double, and in four colorways. I decided to make it shorter than my other cardigans, about four inches longer than waist length. The yarn is from Nordic Mart, and I would do it again in other colors.

In fact, I liked the idea of sock yarns so much that I went to my stash and found a bunch I could coordinate and turn into not-socks! That ought to empty that sock yarn drawer.
+++++
I got my MRI results and will be having knee surgery next Wednesday, which is a relief. I am eager to put this discomfort in the past.
And today is my quilting class, and I am all ready to go. It will be fun to get back in teacher mode.

  1. You're so amazing! It's obvious you know knitting inside out... I envy that, but just can't wrap my brain around it. Oh, well, at least you're going to be through the knee surgery soon, and I hope they do a really great job for you!
    Can't wait to hear how the class goes...

  2. I do like your version much better than the pattern. I'm fearless with my fiber art, but I don't seem to be able to figure out anything with knitting.

  3. I love the sock yarn idea. Sock yarns come in the yummiest of colors too. My next project is to challenge myself to be able to design my own sweater too. I have the books, but it is a matter of sitting down and trying to understand the gauge-yarn weight-how many stitches I need-when to apply increases/decreases-etc. once I can grasp this I think the sky is the limit. You have been a huge motivator seeing all your great projects, so thank you.

    Good luck with the knee surgery. Hope you have lots and lots of knitting projects to keep you busy while your knee heals.

    Your sweater is posed like someone just cut them off in a parking lot.
