My Sister, the Silversmith!

My clever sister Brooke made this hammered Sterling silver shawl pin, after a little coaxing by moi. She has been making jewelry off and on since high school and is just starting to photograph and list items on her Etsy page.
She showed me a necklace that featured this heart shape and I immediately suggested it would make a sensational shawl pin, which I NEED so often. The next time I saw her, she had made several.
Isn't it superb? I am so happy to finally have something arty to close the gap on my buttonless garments, like scarves, shawls and cardigans.

Here I am showing it with a shortie cable needle as the pin.  The flexible silver allows room for the pin and the fluffy boucle yarn.
Her original idea was of course a necklace or pendant with this heart shape. I can see it hanging on a chain from the top loop, so prettily.

And I found I can also use it without a pin, just by weaving the knit through the wavy center line.

It's my new favorite thing! She hasn't put them on her Etsy shop yet, but if you'd like one, they are available for $25 through Brooke by Email.

I am so proud of her, again!
