Finished Objects

I made a solemn promise to my knitting pals Judy and Sharon that I would make this sweater EXACTLY as the directions were written. And I did it! Blocked and ready to wear.

This is the original, Peggy Sue, a free pattern.  I used a dk weight 80% merino20% bamboo and it is light as a feather and so soft. It fits like a dream, and I will get my pals to phopgraph me wearing it.
As mentioned, I always want to change something about a pattern, and if I were to remake this one, which I think I might, I would change/raise the neckline, and make different cables, or add more of them to the other parts of the sweater and knit longer sleeves.

Since I was blocking...I blocked Dave's vest, which turned out much larger and looser than the unblocked version. He promised to wear it for photography and when he does, another picture will be posted. He requested a pullover vest, and not a long sleeved sweater. Thankfully.
 

On Sunday I was looking for a missing ball of yarn and came across this unfinished jacket, started way back in 2005 or 2006. It was so close to being finished, and I can't remember what made me put it away. Just the project I needed to get finished. I worked all day on it. watching Netflix and finished at 9 pm.







I blocked it this morning and decided that I liked the purl side better than the knit side, so that's how I finished it.
It's a kimono shape, and required no buttonholes. I'll see how I like wearing it open, and if it needs buttons, I knit on a band.
I'd say that I am trying to knit up loose ends before gardening begins in earnest, but I already cast on a cotton version of this same jacket design. My hand dyed yarns in pastels will make this summery.
