I got out and saw what I did and as I was standing there with bags of groceries in hand, I saw Dave drive right by our house, looking at me in the driveway. He says he didn't think I was stuck. Hmmm. I knew where he was heading and called the house and explained my plight and continued to unload the groceries up the hill, for four trips. Then I assumed the role of damsel in distress and watched the towing and dislodging attempts from inside the house. Two hours later and my van was back in the garage. Glad I was so close to home when this happened and not on some mountain road in North Carolina.
Thankfully I did not damage the pump in any way.
And later I got an email from some of the gals who were also not going to the knitting conference and it turns out that we are all getting our money back, all but $50, which is one tank of gas for me, anyway. What a relief.
And so I knit. The plan is that this will be the center back panel and I will pick up and knit along the sides of this piece and knit the front and back at the same time, one side at a time that is. Then sew the side seams and make a big shawl collar that overlaps on the front. But you know how plans change, so we'll both have to see how this works out.
Weather wimp here. I am so glad that your "horrible car accident" was close to home and not horrible. I'm also glad you're getting a refund - this means that the organizing folks recognized that people were being prudent.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are fine, and have made a wise decision.
ReplyDeleteThose convention organizers are pretty wise, too.
Sounds like a 4WD might be a good investment :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Good news about the pump, obviously. What did Dave think you were doing, I wonder??Smooching about looking for snowdrops? Anyway, whatever he was driving - you want to drive that next time.
