The Changing Light

Early morning light hits the far hills first. It's a little warmer today, and walking the pup is more leisurely. I would not be outside, in coat and hat if it weren't for morning walkies. It's good for me to get in this new routine.

Golden light in mid afternoon. From this vantage point I can see a bit of the big pond behind those buildings. The hills are every color this fall, but the distance makes them look subtle.

We've had two nights of freezing temps to herald the end of Daylight Savings Time. OK. I am ready for the gentle Tennessee winter. Must pull out the dead stuff in the garden and plant bulbs in new spots to add to the ones from previous years.

The Last Rose of Summer.
Popeye still lives, 21 1/2 years old.
Many have asked how he and Chumley are getting along. He doesn't know we have a puppy yet. I am sure he would not want one invading his perfect space. Really.

We have a 21 year old cat, too. She gets along amazingly well for being older than dirt:)

Bless Sweet Popeye! We had our Siamese for 21 1/2 or 22 1/2 (can't remember which). He was pretty active and happy up until the last month or so. He kept 4 dogs in line over the year. I wonder if he can smell Chumley and is just pretending not to notice.

    The pictures are just beautiful.

  7. Oh dear, Popeye looks as if he is on the very last legs of his ninth life. 21.5 years is very old for a cat. We once had a cat in our neighbourhood that lived to the respectable age of 26, but he looked much better than Popeye right untill the day he died (he got hit by a car).
