A bit of a respite from the rain

 IMG_7767-1 IMG_7768-1

The pond continues to be filled and emptied simultaneously and several people asked if the fish were going down the drain.  Thankfully everyone is here and accounted for, including Two-tone who I couldn’t find at first. The frogs are louder than ever so I knew they were safe.

I have a few plants that have yet to go in, and will have to wait until the ground is less saturated. I had to buy this hosta, Capt. Kirk, because it was a different color and so huge at the store…until I got it home and put it next to the Whopper. I’ll put it somewhere that won’t be as challenged for attention.

I love the way the hosta are hiding all the myriad weeds underneath. Saves me having to pull them out.

image This is Ruby Bells Heuchera aka coral bells, but these flowers are soooo RED. I love it’s little self. I do have another one with remarkable flowers, called Day-glow Pink but it hasn’t bloomed yet.

Dave is always asking if a certain bloom has a fragrance and most of mine don’t, so he took it upon himself to bring home a very fragrant floribunda. It smells fabulous. The blooms are huge and waterlogged because of sitting in the rain, but someday soon it will have a prize spot in the bed where a nose can easily reach it.

I will be gone for a bit as my knee surgery is tomorrow. See you later.

Love,

Melody

  1. Best of luck with the knee. I know you will come through with flying colors. Do what the doctor says and don't rush it... but do the PT. Now I will take off my mother hat and wish you God Speed with healing.

Best of luck to you and all best wishes for a speedy recovery. God bless and keep you throughout the entire process, from the time you put on the ridiculous gown pre-surgery to the time you're back to kicking like a Rockette. Take care.

  11. Yes indeed, all best wishes to you and your knee. And I so agree with all the comments that you do just what they tell you and that the therapy part is the most important! Your garden and pond are looking so luverly! Get that yarn ready for some good knitting time as you recuperate:)

  20. Hey Melody -
Hope the surgery goes great. Take time to heal and know it might take a little longer than you'd like. I had knee surgery and it took a complete year to be able to run and jump - as if I would even want to!! But I felt pretty good in a few weeks and did do the surgery.
Your hostas are gorgeous!! Just returned from NC and they were so huge I couldn't believe it!
Be well - you are loved!!
