Print Parade #3

Print Parade #3
Commercial and hand dyed cottons, machine pieced, hand and machine quilted, 23" square.
This is the busiest one of the bunch of six that I am finishing. It has it's own character, and is sorta English Tea Room in flavor. Since there wasn't much free room for fancy quilting I decided to add a bit of handwork, in pearl cotton size #8. I don't believe in fancy quilting on busy prints. If it doesn't show at a distance of three feet, why bother?

A little handwork, a few buttons. The first three of these quilts are lined up here.

I rescued these buttons from the closing down fabric dept. at Wal-Mart. Now I have lotsa colors to play with.

  1. So happy and colorful. I love these so much and buttons...well who doesn't love a bit of blingyness. Thanks for the button sewing tut. Why didn't I think of that?
The full moon wakes me so often. The skylight in our bedroom allows it to drop into the room like a floodlight...I need a sleep mask too.

  2. This one is great too! I also go to Wal-mart and "rescue" the buttons. It is truly a great deal and fun to embellish with them. Love your work.

Melody, I heard last night the full moon is the brightest this month of any time during the year. Too bad we can't see it for all of the storm clouds and snow.

Not so crazy about this one though I really liked the others ones. This one looks like you were trying for Christmas.

  8. They are all very special, but this one does have a different feel to it. I am awed by how fast you seem to be turning these out.

  9. I'm not sure why, but I think this is my favorite. Maybe it is because it is darker, I am drawn to darker. I love looking at your work and learning from it. I have always been very traditional, but you are showing me I can love not so traditional.

  10. Diane, I think this series is sooo traditional. For me they are so regular and uniform...

I like this more than the others only because I'm partial to richer, warmer colors. Not the bright, Mexican colors. (Lived in S. TX too long). But we're all different in our tastes and it doesn't mean either is right or wrong. Our WalMart has been remodeled and they have taken all the craft items out.:(

  14. It was a great idea to save these buttons. Here, I'd have to spend a fortune on this lot. The reds and greens are so vibrant together! I love it.

  15. I like this one even better than yesterday's - and it's got lots of red. Terrific.
