Decking the Halls

.

The painting isn't done but that won't stop me from decorating for all our December holidays.

I was concerned about attaching lights and decorations to the newly painted railing, and finally today the answer came to me. Pipe cleaners! The cost was only pennies and they came in white. I wrapped them around the railing and attached the lights. Then I used fish line to tie on the silver balls, and topped everything with white tinsel garland.

Looks like I need a bit more hanging lights for the Juliet balcony.

The table is already set with gold, red and white for our special 30th anniversary dinner later this week. Holly sprigs and crystal ornaments are our pretend food placeholders.

Real cranberries to hold a votive candle. No wax dripping on my tablecloth.

I wanted to buy some fresh greens but couldn't find any at my grocery store. But, duh, on the way home I realized that we live in the woods for heaven sake and holly is growing all over the place, so I just went out and cut some for this real fruit arrangement. I turned vases upside down for footed candle stands.

We are getting our new picture windows any day now, so the drapes are down until they install the new window. The garland and bow fill the empty space.

Now where will we put the tree?

  6. OMG - how awesome! I love the way you've used white and silver to bring the icy winter indoors.
BUT most of all, congrats on 30 years of wedded bliss. It is a milestone so many of us never reach and an absolute testimony to the bond you and Dave share.
May you have at least 30 more wonderful years!
