This is the work of Karen Allen. Her first quilt, she says. Huh? She is about 20+ years older than moi, and I shall be running to catch up with her.
These center two squares are from Libby Lee, age 79, who doesn't have a computer, but is friends with gals who do.
The assignment was make your own pattern, and also make your own patterned fabric (fusing elements onto a fabric to creat a patterned design). Her examples will be used in my slides from now on.
Ellie Ringer went from this, early on to this later in the week as we all played around with strips
after seeing the slide show of Marcia De Camp's series variations. Pat Clahassey who was the ring leader of the Strippers did this super number...
and inspired Judy Sebastian, for life!
We love this piece and its ice cream colors, by Libby Lee (I am pretty sure...)
So many more are in the slideshow and I know I left out some great work that got put away faster than I could find my camera. Please, send me more pictures, and I will add them to the slides.
Absolutely beautiful! Someday, when you are ready to stop teaching and traveling, I would like to see you put out a book with your classes in it. It would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy house hunting... we wanna see pictures! ;0)
The slideshow is spectacular and inspirational and just plain delicous. Color. Deisgn. It's all there.
ReplyDeleteMelody, these are beautiful. Thank you for including these. A quilt show right on the screen. Thank you to all of those who provided their work to share.
ReplyDeleteLove these-what a great class. I'm working on a small piece with ginko leaves and your neutral fabric from last year. Such inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great -
ReplyDeleteI think you should consider teaching a workshop or two here at the Fetival of Quilts in the UK - next one in August, and too late now, but please do think about it next year I'd be there really fast! (I'm doing Kaffe Fassett this year) http://www.twistedthread.com/festivalofquilts/index.asp
For discretionary reasons I have inserted the tin for another material in which the father deals, without, however, changing bianca anything in the verbal expression of the dream...
ReplyDeleteWow! I love these. Especially the one with lots of spring green. I must go dye some more fabric!!
ReplyDeleteWow. Great slideshow. How disappointing I can't come to the courses in St. Moritz
