Quilt Content!!!

Just when you thought I would never mention quilts again, here it is a quilt show that features only the work of the Chicago School of Fusing! Well, to be accurate, here is a room filled with quilts from the CSOF. The traveling exhibit of Quilt National '05 is also in this building and we have the other half for our exhibit Color Fusion. This is all at the Bloomingdale Park District Gallery in Bloomingdale IL. This is the second time we have been invited to show our work in conjunction with Quilt National. Three of us have been in previous QN's so that is our ticket to stardom, I guess. Anyway the word 'antidote' was heard floating around in relation to our quilts vs. the pieces that were 'the chosen few' in the other room.
I NEVER SAID THAT.

Emily Parson and Laura Wasilowski are two of the members and here they discuss if this rod will will be long enough to work. There was a lot of talk about rod length and stiffness and whether we could get things up, etc. Girls, please!

The Dance in one of its many placements in the room. Four assertive minds at work made for many revisions of the arrangements.

Ethan, Emily's son plays with a spelling game under the work of Mom, Ann Fahl and Frieda Anderson.

Emily brought the largest pieces. Wonderful work.

Red got a nice space in the corner, where it will stay out of trouble.

Anne Lullie's Tropicana, va va va voom!

Frieda's new piece, next to Laura's new piece, next to Ann Fahl's new piece. You'll have to come and see it all in person, July 16, (or 21 the real opening with the cheese and crackers )because several works did not make the (blurry pictures) cut.

Here is the assembled hanging party, sucking it in for the camera.

  2. Having seen QN05 in person, I can only say I *wish* you all had had a show at the same place. "Antidote" is probably not strong enough.....

I surely hope QN can get jurors who don't hate fiber, next time..... QN05 was surely the ugliest show I ever saw. Ugly concepts, ugly fabrics, ugly design, ugly, ugly, ugly. We were really surprised to walk out of there thinking "gack!" instead of our usual "wow!" Sigh.

Not to say there weren't a few excellent pieces. There were. A few.

It was a very disappointing show.

  6. These are great pieces. Thanks for sharing them, since I won't be able to see them in person. Seems like a lot of work to put them up, and good that there are people who are willing to do that work.

  10. The best part of hanging this show was getting together with women who do not stop talking. I could not keep my mouth flapping fast enough. Thank heavens Emily was there to keep us on track (she must be the mother of 3).
