Hanging Hooks for Art Quilts

How to Hang a Quilt - Update - I did this with my Christmas wall hangings this year!

Now that I have brand new walls with nothing on them, I am faced with developing a hanging system. I saw this first idea on Pinterest, which is a stick-on hook and a piece of wood.
As you may know I am too lazy to cut pieces of wood to match the size of each quilt and prefer telescoping cafe rods in varying weights and lengths to match the size and heft of the quilt.
So I decided to try these other removable hooks from Command products. They come in clear, which is nice, and if I think  ahead and sew on my rod pocket so it is lower than I usually do it. I believe I can hide this hanger completely. It does stick out more than I would like, but a pliers may remedy that issue.
The good part of course is that no holes will mar my new BEIGE walls.

  2. Hi Melody - I have used the Command hooks all over my newly remodeled house and love them. I've hung tons of samplers and several quilts. Another investment I made was in 3 of these self-leveling adjustable quilt rods -- here's the website - http://hangitdangit.com/
I have one in my living room and I change the quilt about every 2 months and I can do it all myself. Love that - I also bought the smaller sizes for quilts that are hard to reach over my cutting table and ironing board. If you check out my posts back in late Oct early Nov you can see these rods in action. It only takes one Command hook to hang them. Your new home looks wonderful - love your style!

Those hooks are great. Did you notice that the different types of hooks hold up different amounts of weight? The clear ones you show here only hold 1/2 pound. I think you will need stronger ones unless you are only hanging the tops with out any actual batting, backing, etc. I hope you don't mind my pointing this out. I want you to be successful with your project.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. Hard to believe your walls are still beige - but not for very much longer, I'd guess. Let us know how the new hooks stand up over time - it looks like a great way to hang & change out wall quilts, without holes or hassle.
