Silk Composition #5
Hand dyed and commercial silks and cottons, fused, machine quilted, 13.25"x14.5". $250 Email me.
Yes, I am having fun now! I went through my silk stash and cut wide sections from the 45-50" wide fabrics. That way I have them in small enough strips to keep them all at my fingertips, to include in the work at hand. This piece includes charmeuse, shantung and dupioni, some iridescent ones, woven from two different colors of silk. The dark purple has a red weft. One is a woven stripe, which I use sparingly, as I have so little left. More prairie points are included to echo the triangle points in the composition. The inner b&w border is a cotton print as is the red and pink checkerboard, but the larger striped border is fused black cotton on white. Signature in lower right corner is the only quilting done free motion. The rest is done with feed dogs up. So fun!
