Home for the Holiday

The day started with a big kitchen cleanup, from the previous day's pizza making. Green pepper and bacon, a fave around here.
I seem to feel the need to bake, and while I didn't have much in the way of ingredients, I did have two packages of  Betty Crockett's  Crocker's cookie mixes. A Gingerbread and a Walnut Chocolate Chip. That'll do. I used the food processor to mix the gingerbread, which worked so well that tossed the other mix into the bowl next. This makes a very different cookie, all the nuts and chips got ground up into a 'flavoring' instead of the separate ingredients. Not bad, but not the same. O well.

Dave wasn't feeling well, so as a balm, he paints. There must be something therapeutic in the process. First he washed my studio floor, bless him, and then he painted all the baseboards, again. They seem to collect dust, doggie hair and spider dirt. Yuck. This was a better gift than diamonds to me. Just seeing the sparkling cleanliness, and I am filled with inspiration to do something in there.
.

But first I gotta put away all my stuff...

After the cookie baking and before the dinner making, I decided to go up to the garage attic and find a different bedspread for the guest room. The current one was in desperate need of washing, and I thought I had one from the old house that was a duvet and would hold the comforter. I lucked out and found it, and discovered the table cloth and curtain in the same container. Bingo! A whole new look for that room. Of course the Marimekko fabric has no relation to the limey green walls,  but it is clean and fresh and will do. (Later I had to try out the new room and had a lovely holiday nap. Perfect.)

I am not leaving the house today, being Black Friday, but that doesn't mean I will miss any bargains. Ha! I already spent a bundle at Fabric.com and Joann's. Just to let you in on the good news, I ordered an entire new bolt, 35 yards of Wonder-Under, so there'll be some fusing in the near future. And at Fabric.com, o boy, all the rolls of Kaffe Fassett fabric were ridiculously on sale. $20.99. I ordered 5 different ones. Adding to those, some charms and strips sets... and it added up to a large number. Gulp. Then I found a site to get a coupon for 20% off my whole order. Much better.

Designed by Kaffe Fassett for Westminster Fabrics, this assortment includes 20-6'' x 44'' strips from the Kaffe Fassett Fall 2012 collection rolled into a jelly roll and tied with a cute Rowan ribbon. The color palette includes vibrant colors of green, blue, orange and pink.
