It's a virtual pinboard, a place where you can 'pin' stuff you love that you saw on the web and don't want to lose. People pin with a gadget that you down load and when one wants to save a picture like this, one clicks on the Pin it gadget:
And Pin This comes up, which you click and it automatically saves the picture, the url where it was found, so you can find it again and also puts it on the specific board you have created. I am putting this one on My Inspirations. You can see it there right now.
It's easy to search for categories you are interested in, and just opening Pinterest will show you a page of everything that has recently been pinned. I think of it as a magazine of images and information that can be found quickly, like DIY instructions, recipes, where to buy those gorgeous shoes, and just fabulous ideas to stimulate the imagination. And you can share it with others of like minds. When all my emails are answered and I've read my fave blogs, I go to Pinterest for the final topper. One of my fave Pinners is Geninne, also one of my fave bloggers. Her boards are sooooo wonderful. http://pinterest.com/geninne/geninne-likes/
Put up your feet and have a great time looking.
Uh, oh! This could be bad. Love that Johnny Depp Willie Wonka! How long did it take to get your invite back?
ReplyDeleteOh I am soooooo addicted to Pinterest! Genius idea, and I must tell you that one of your purple and green quilts was my very first pin on Pinterest. Honestly it's worse than heroin! Yet ... I love it!
ReplyDeleteOMG! What have you done? I've seen posts about it but didn't really know what it was. Your's and the one you noted will keep me happy for hours. Like I need another reason to sit at the computer and ignore my surroundings!
ReplyDeleteI requested an invite and it came less then one hour later. But you can only login through facebook or twitter account :( Bummer!
ReplyDeleteI am SO loving Pinterest, too! So much visual candy!
ReplyDeleteI'd heard of it but never checked it out. Oh boy, I could lose lots more time there!
ReplyDeleteFarout, Mrs. Mel... thanks! A place to put all the stuff I find instead of printing it out and stuffing it in a drawer... GENIUS!
ReplyDeleteI love Pinterest too - but unlike the commenter above, I log in with my gmail address.
ReplyDeleteI'm following so many boards already, but I do love Geninne's blog...
*sigh*
I love Geninne too! Did you see that she has her own fabric line coming out?
ReplyDeleteYes, unfortunately, I know about the latest and greatest time waster, Pinterest. I just went over and started following you. :)
ReplyDeleteI meant: you can only register through fb or twitter, later you can change the address, but I am so getting around that! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Geninne too, she has a giveaway going on ;)
I am also completely addicted to it.
ReplyDeleteI am so addicted to Pinterest. And I'm going to go on and look at your pins. I think it's Maddie's fault that I found out about it. But so much fun. I have a problem with the "pin" thing. But so much fun. Bren
