The First Meeting of the Modern Quilt Guild-Chattanooga
I am so over the moon after having met these gals and seen examples of their works. It's exactly what I wished for, needed, and more.
In my mind I thought that maybe 5-7 people might turn up, but there were 13 + me. Amazing. And I even met one gal that lives on nearly the same mountain as me!!! Can this really be happening?
To say I am excited is an understatement.
Now I have a reason to make more quilts, since I have show and tell to nudge me.
We are going to meet on the second Saturday at Sew Bee It in Ringgold GA and we already have a website, so if you are interested in joining us, please feel invited.
Now here's the thing...this is no ordinary quilt guild...there are some really clever arty gals involved. I will have to up my game, despite swearing to my sister that I would be totally non-competitive I already feel challenged to run faster, jump higher and try harder. But in a good way.
See some examples of their delicious work at Flickr here.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely feast for the eyes on a wet Sunday!
Congrats on your new group! It's always great to have others to share your interests and passions with!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day!! Great photos too!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! So happy you've found people to play with and share.
ReplyDeleteI can see Ms Mel's wheels turning all the way over here in NY!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you.....and for us!!!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time ever, I'm wishing I lived in Chattanooga.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling after connecting with a few gals about a year ago. We are a loose group..no dues, no officers, no fund raisers...it is great!!! How will your group be structured?? Mb
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are inspiring. I keep wishing for a group of art quilters but there don't seem to be enough in my area.
ReplyDeleteWow--so cool.
ReplyDeleteI love the range of aesthetics in the quilts. Lots of really neat things there.
How exciting that you found a quilt group that will challenge you creatively - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnd I just caught up on the week and saw Chumley's RED doggie bed. Very cute. Of course, he needed the Allen wrench to complete the look. :-)
I want a group like this!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peek into your meeting. Love the quilts... they are lovely and high quality... but yours fits in just fine, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteLooks very fun and inspirational! Glad you found your peeps!
ReplyDeleteTwas great fun, indeed. And what a room full of talented ladies.
ReplyDeleteOooh, how exciting! Some lovely quilts there. Now you have local quilting buddies and knit buddies :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have a local MQG too (Melbourne MQG). Pop over to our flickr pool at http://www.flickr.com/groups/1365037@N22/pool/ There's even some of my quilt tops (maybe even a finished quilt!) there.
Eye candy for sure! Isn't it fun to have friends that are working on similiar, but different! We have a Thursday Bee that is great. All kinds of art quilters. We feed off each others energies! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteThe meeting of the Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild was today and there is so much talent and inspiration it is unbelievable. Good luck with your new guild.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky!
