The Big Reveal

It's finished and better than I imagined. The color is soothing and fresh against the whiteness of the woodwork, and so beach cottage-y. I went shopping for sea glass colored stuff and found toothpaste that matches! Hysterical! I already had the wastecans and the little floral bag which I filled with brandy-new white hand towels, just for show of course, and then got a soap pump and Puffs in the new shade. I really like the mirror, which was from Target, half price--$25, and I adore the vanity now that it is white. People asked about the sink and it came from Lowe's and was a mere $138. This was a pretty inexpensive reno, considering we only replaced two exhaust fans, the sink, faucet and mirror. Removing the wallpaper made the biggest improvement. Everything is covered with dust from sanding the spackle, and I can tell when I have cleaned since the white disappears. One room at a time until Thanksgiving, is the plan.

The throne got spruced up internally and I will now have matching blue water. Notice the blankness of walls. Art to come soon.

Then we finally (three years since we moved in) hung the mirror!!! And we found the right spot, right outside the bathroom door. Terrific lighting makes it the best spot to take those 'look what I just knit' photos. Mustn't forget the shower which Dave made super clean again. What a guy!

And now to tackle the bubble tub room.

Yes it is grey-green. What were they thinking? The previous owners even painted the ceiling this grey-green color. Not conducive...for anything. It will be a very similar sea glass color, maybe a shade or two lighter. This cabinet has funny doors which never closed because they are two wide. We hope to get them trimmed so they will be more functional. The jacuzzi never gets used since we have the hot tub, so I have my bookcases in there. My other job this weekend is to move the  bookcases and clear the space for removing the wallpaper.

  4. Excellent! Nice job and so fresh looking. Another color to consider is grey wisp by Benjamin Moore - identical to Restoration Hardware's silver sage and the most soothing color ever.

  5. Oh that's an absolutely gorgeous bathroom color! What brand and color name of paint did you use? Isn't it grand when such a low cost renovation makes such a huge difference. :-)

  8. I'm not really a gusher, really. Honest. But I love your bathroom now - I love the light aqua. I've been wondering what colour to repaint our bathroom (dark blue tiles and light yellow walls), and now I know! Thanks :-)

  9. It looks great! I'm not sure Chums is tall enough to drink the water in the toilet, but the stuff that makes it blue is not good for dogs. So be sure to keep the lid closed. How's he doing after surgery? any better on the pillow attacking?

  10. Congrats to this lovely bathroom! A dream of the sea and soothing cool water. What a good idea to change this depressive grey-green.

Love the big reveal! Great colour! Isn't it amazing what a little spruce up can do?

Talking of your bubble tub room. Does anyone else remember that bearded interior designer from the 1990s? He was on...Discovery channel, I think. IIRC, he once turned an unused bathtub into sofa-like seating in the bathroom. Just in case you're looking for more ideas. ;)
