Meeting the Family

It was a gorgeous day Saturday so we decided to bring Chum out to meet my sister and family. It was an instant connection, I am not surprised. He was on his best running-around-behavior and totally entertaining.
Brooke lives on Possum Creek which is wide like a river, deep enough for boat traffic which is plentiful on the weekends. Jetskis run a continual loop, turning the placid surface into rolling waves along  the sandy shore. We like to sit along that beach and watch the parade of skiers and houseboats pass and imagine ourselves floating along too. For Chumley the waves were way too enticing to just watch and he tore along the water's edge, back and forth, trying to bite the water.

All of a sudden he ran directly into the water, up to his shoulders, and just as suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks, stunned at the coldness. Not moving, just sitting there, with the waves lapping his chest, we wondered what he would do. Instantly Brooke lept to her feet and ran into the water and 'rescued' him. He wriggled out of her arms and shook off the excess water as dogs are meant to do, and Brooke got as wet and sandy as Chum. More running back and forth ensued and soon he was dry again. Big adventure!
(I would have taken pictures, but he was just a blur or zooming sandy dog).
On the way home both he and Dave had a nap, and then more napping back in his kennel. Such a big day for a little doggie.

  5. He is(almost!) the cutest puppy - we got one too, earlier in the year. We've just recovered from a Turbo holiday...long (hilly!)coastal walks every day...we are whacked...but Turbo just keeps on going!!

  10. And just in case you occasionally feel the need for a major dose of dignity, or for a serious talk with that little rascal, Chumley is spelled Cholmondley in English (!). Now doesn't that make a difference? lol>

  11. How adorable! My brother has a black pug, they are such great dogs. :)

Pugs are not the best of swimmers, though.
