I'm Floored!

The before picture. Gray-slate-bluish carpet. O did I mention stained? Yes that too. Out with it!
The base was OSB and quite ready for the tile.
The brighter, cleaner, nicer by far floor. All that we have left to do here is add the quarter round at the base of the trim. I couldn't wait to move back in.
Meanwhile, everything has been pulled out of the studio and onto the deck.
The studio carpet was ripped up, and the concrete imperfections were filled with leveler, and painted with a sealer. The tile in this room is 1/4th done and will be finished today. Same tile here too. I know this improvement will make the biggest difference in the light in this room. And when I drip, or drop scraps, I can clean them up fast and easy. I am not one who likes a hide-the-dirt surface. If I can see it, I can clean it.

I am writing from this corner, facing the windows, my quilt and the doors. Good Feng Shui.

  1. Wow!! What an improvement!! So much more light and it makes the room look larger :) Good choice and if it gets a little cool this winter you can always put a throw rug or two down :) It looks like the tile floor I had in my house when we lived in South TX (very hot and humid!!) and I used my carpet scrubber on it a couple times a year (in between regular cleanings, of course) and it looked beautiful.

  2. The colour in that room is amazing! I don't think I'd have the nerve to paint such a colour, but wow you've really pulled it off. The new flooring looks great.

  3. I love it, Mel. So you are sitting in the black chair with your feet up? Fabulous!

Are my eyes deceiving me, no gouting? I've only seen tiles without gout when huge slabs/tiles
    of marble are laid.

  5. OSB? Qu'est-ce que c'est?
I love the new open, light and airy look.

  6. I love both your new floors, what an improvement.

I really love the quilt hanging above the bed. Do you have a better view of it somewhere? It is fantastic!

  7. gorgeous room! love the wall color and those quilts!

  8. Love, love, love your room!! I dare one question ... how do you hang the quilts on the walls (the small and the large ones)

  9. wow, love the room! Love the wall colour too (I have a very similar colour in my bedroom). DH is now saying "Make me one of those." (The wall hangings. Gimme a break, we've had no income and I'm still working out the dyeing stuff and the fusing. Oh and the whole arty thing too.)
So wishing I'd had the chance to attend the Chicago School of Fusing...

  10. Lovely, lovely, and more...lovely.
