Quilting Spidey

Maybe it was the time change that motivated me to work on the second spiderweb quilt today. Or it could be that the studio and the rest of the house are back to normal from painting, electricians and general upheaval this past week. More likely it was the constant rain that just made it pleasant to be working on something really colorful.

Speaking of color, I chose a very pale fabric for the background. It is so light that you just have to believe me that it is shades of yellow, pink and blue, but all so light that it reads as white. So different than my usual choice, but I was going for a more gentle look with the spiderwebs floating on a sea of air.

O how romantic that sounds...

Here's the quilting. Free motion for the light areas and stitch in the ditch (feed dogs up) for the blocks. Barely any color shows here. Just a blush of pink.


No binding for this one. I used the Escape Hatch Finish. The quilt measures 36x38" and is 95% hand dyed cottons, with just a few scraps of commercial prints in the mix. Fused, of course. It is smaller than the first Spiderweb, but even so, I will have to switch out something else if I want to hang it.
The walls are filling up around here.
