The Quilting

I decided on turquoise as the background color and used a Marimekko fabric for the backing and Cotton Classic for the batting. I stitched in the ditch on the spokes of the spiderwebs and then today will be quilting the blue parts and binding the thing.
On a design like this a simple and spare amount of quilting is really the best. There is so much pattern in the design that the quilting would only compete. And knowing that this is a wall quilt, excessive quilting becomes unnecessary.
The centers are left open so far, with the batting visible in this photo. I am still considering what color or colors I may use.

Melody, Are you using basting spray to hold the layers? I see no pins.
    It's a happy quilt.!!

  3. Very, very nice. I agree minimal quilting is all this needs - otherwise your eyes would get tired. Love it.

  4. Caryl,
No I don't like basting spray, which is a glue that I'd rather not breath. eeeouwww.
I pin basted this piece and removed the pins as I quilted the area.

I can't wait to see what you do with the centers... Yellow, Lime green maybe?

  6. Fabulous, as usual. Leaving those centers undone would make me nervous. I'm sure yours will be terrific.

  7. Centers on old log cabin quilts used to be red. Yellow would be great eye catcher on this one... but any color is going to work.
Great colors!!! Everyone needs a quilt like this for the winter time!
