It's Easy Being Green
Is this girly enough for you? I am getting plants for those pots today. I hope. Lots of flowers are necessary for this sunny window, doncha think?
I love this new color and it is just perfect for bringing Spring a little closer.
I've got my library adjacent in the bubble tub room which opens up the wall so I can put my bed there. I moved my coffee bar to the other corner. The electrical outlets on either side of the bed are finally working (!!) and the sconces on that wall and their holes have been filled and I have a big space for a big quilt. Sunflowers II.
This chair is painted and stamped with fruit and has tiny fruits dangling from the chair back. Perfect colors.
The bed fabric is a king size sheet from Goodwill, and is made into a duvet with pillows and table cloth to match. I will be putting on the new Shoofly quilt when it gets quilted. Notice I switched out my red headboard cover for the pink one.
The ceiling was also painted, white not green. It was raw pine before and pretty oppressive. Now it is white and sparkling and makes me think COTTAGE.
I really love that look.
I couldn't bear to put nails in the wall to hang the curtains or quilts so the woodwork got them instead. We can easily fill white paint in later when I change my mood. The curtains were hung with scrap string ties. The ceiling fan pulls are what you see in front of the window.
This room is really a dream come true room for me. I can't believe it took me this long to make it happen.
That is a happy room!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a powerful green; I like it and would like to paint a room this color. Do you have the name of the paint?
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job redecorating--girlie, artsy, and very sofisticated.
The sunflower quilt is just stunning! I love your green interior, too! Thank you so much for the blog. I dye my own fabric and do mostly pictorial quilts. After finishing a large quilt I sit here searching on Internet for some inspiration for doing something different and your blog came up. I have read all the articles and spent quite a few hours at your blog today. Thank you for all the information and inspiration :-)
ReplyDeleteThe paint color is Sour Apple 91283 from Wal-Mart! It took two coats to cover the white.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! Could you please provide some details on the 3 chairs? Fantastic room, it's has "Melody" all over it!
ReplyDeleteI collect hand painted chairs and have purchased three from one artist at a coop gallery in Lafayette Indiana. The third little blue chair we got in San Miguel de Allende Mexico. I am always on the lookout for more, even tho I have NO MORE ROOM for any.
ReplyDeleteNo more room? My husband says there's a 12 step program he wants me to take for that very problem. Not interested.
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely in love with your new room! Very creative!
ReplyDeleteWow! And you used one of my favorite quilts. It's hard to have favorites with your quilts.... I have favorites instead. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love your room, love the color, love the quilts, love your blog - so much inspiration. Thanks Melody.
ReplyDeleteYUM, YUM, YUM!!! Love the jolly rancher sour apple green - I can almost taste it!

What a stunning room. Makes me feel happy just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteMelody, I want to move in with you! I, too love this green and the quilt is perfect. NEVER sell this quilt! What a bright, cheery room; makes one want to spend more time in it, though. Terrific and inspirational as well.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Love it, Love it. I wish I had the courage and energy to paint a room lime green. Lime green is the new neutral, you know!!
ReplyDeleteYour green room is wonderful! I love it!

I love love love it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid we lived in a drafty old house and my dad painted the "kids" bathroom this very color... including the claw foot tub....
I loved it then... still do...
I love the chairs, and the quilts... What a happy "Melody" room!
What fun!
I must go shopping for paint!
LOVE the green and all those vibrant accessories.
ReplyDeleteYUMMERS! Can I be you when I grow up? :)
ReplyDeleteThe whole room is fresh and pretty, but I especially love the sunflower quilt and the funky artistic chairs!
ReplyDeletePerfectamundo! This room is so YOU! The sunflowers quilt just pops off that green! WooHoo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great room! I don't think you could ever be unhappy in a room so colorful and beautiful!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI particularly love that you painted the ceiling white. My dh, the woodworker, is one of those men (or is it most men?) who thinks that all wood trim is sacrosanct and must remain unpainted.
A very Melody room! Perfect.
How could anyone not be happy in a room like this? It is delightful
ReplyDeleteWhat a great room! I love the Sunflowers quilt---it's as though you made it just for this room (but I'm pretty sure that I saw it in your booth in Paducah---2001 or 2002.) The pictures should be in a magazine or on a calendar page...
ReplyDeleteYes Carol, it was a winner (1st place) at Paducah and Houston both in 2001
ReplyDeleteCan't help but smile when I see your room...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do lurves it so very much! Every single vibrant and wonderful detail!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous, Melody! A breath of springtime! And that quilt is amazing. I saw it in Houston and was blown away! Amazingly, I painted my room this color when I was a teenager...loved it so much. It is a perfect foil for your artwork.
ReplyDeletemy six year old daughter just said she wished she could have that quilt in her room! wish i could afford it for her....
ReplyDeleteIt's so happy. I love girlie stuff, but I'd have to kick my husband to the curb to do it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely blog you have. I'll come back.
