Boxed Stripes
Boxed Stripes
Hand dyed cottons, machine pieced and machine quilted. 28x27" $250 Sold
Now that my studio is equipped with shelves to store my fabrics, it is much simpler to find something nice to use when an idea arises. I had finished my home dec project and had nothing designed in the old pipeline, so it was just a day to try some new stuff. What to do, what to do?
I went to the stash and just looked for my fave colors...red, green, yellow, blue, they were all at my fingertips. Deciding to limit my choices, I stopped gathering after collecting just a few pieces.
I had wonky blocks with off centered squares float to the surface, so I cut and pieced and added stripes to the last round and liked what happened.
I have always
I always enjoy seeing what you put together and this is one of my favorites. I love the straight line stitching in contrast to quilt blocks.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is outstanding! I love the little "lines" of fabric almost radiating out from the "boxes". Just amazing to look at.
ReplyDeleteYou always make me feel like "I can do that." I like the look of straight line quilting. It's clean but effective. Not as cluttered as many free motion quilting gets to be.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I do wish that I could whip up things as fast as you! The straight line quilting is just the thing for the quilt.

ReplyDeleteMelody, You truly are the energizer bunny! I'm constantly in awe of your energy. You've put out more projects in the last month than I've done in a year. What kind of vitamins do you take anyway!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this piece! Looks really YOU somehow and yes that quilting is so perfect for this piece! Sort of in the family of your famous 9-patch quilt with all the stitchery from a few years back!

I love it!!! Those oranges and yellows just pop with the other gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeleteJust my kind of quilt making. I love all the primary colors too. The straight and not so straight lines are just the kind of thing you can do while not even thinking. Love it, Love it, Love it
ReplyDeleteI have always admired Robin's straight line quilting, too, but I thought it was because I was pretty sure I could sew a straight line.
ReplyDeleteLove it on your quilt!
I think I need to take a trip to Ikea... maybe if I clean out my sewing room and can see and get to things I could actually make things.....
ReplyDeleteGawds I love your colorful stuff... it's so bright and happy!
