The Treehouse Series
I put them on the pinup wall, not necessarily in order, but just to see how they look together.
I am satisfied with the group, for the time being, and now onto other things. The studio got cleaned up and the fabric put away, except for the sewing machine which is staying out, covered and ready should I need to sew new pajama bottoms (and I do!)
It seems like time to get out the knitting. I found I had nearly finished this pair of socks, except for one toe. Why would I have quit when the finish line was so close?
Good question. This is the Kaffe Fasset yarn, in suitably autumnal colors. I also found another pair of man-sized socks, just waiting for the toe shaping too. And 70% of a cardigan waiting for the rest of itself. So I have projects abounding.
Starting Monday I am having a deck built out from the studio sliders and into the garden. My big plan is to have a larger outdoor space for my whole family to fit in comfort at the dinner table. We managed to squeeze into a corner of the porch, but when anyone had to get up, it was musical chairs. And there is a hot tub in our future which will also be sited on the L-shaped space.
This photo was taken last November and kind of shows the plan. I have since changed it a bit. The left side shows flowers and plants, but now the deck will just expand to the retaining wall. This is where the hot tub will be, easily reached from the studio sliders. Then beyond that the patio will provide the larger dining area.
When one begins projects like this, one must be flexible, as unexpected things often arise. So we'll see what happens.
I think the Treehouse series should be displayed as a set, don't you? And let us know about the pool party when the hot tube is in place. I am willing to be seen in a swim suit at that time.
ReplyDeleteThat series is so gorgeous! I love seeing all the quilts together.
ReplyDeleteI bought a dyeing "kit" from Juanita Yeager and did my first dyeing using her instructions and yours. I LOVE it! An order from Dharma is coming Tues and I can't wait to start. Your Lazy Dyer info is so inspiring!
Yup, they are lovely together!
ReplyDeleteI know you'll love the hot tub, my hubby & I do lots of talking in ours! ALthough I hate to wait for things, making a plan and then letting it stew for awhile always ends up with the plan being re-visited in ways that improve it - so aren't you glad you didn't build the deck last Fall? I'm sure it's going to be great!

Yes, it's a series, and to me these are phases of a day with a midnight and a midday piece and the brightest one as the early morning at about 7 or 8 hours -- being a little cool in the shade.
ReplyDeleteI love these as a grouping. They play off one another so well.
ReplyDeleteFun socks and they look nice and toasty too.
What a great porch plan...any trees nearby to extend it in the trees? You are such a great creator of tree houses!
ReplyDeleteToo hard to pick a favorite... I join preceding opinions that these really look perfect as a set, especially with the rearranged sequence from dawn to dusk. Love all the colors, very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteYour treehouse series looks marvelous together but I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Each has it's own unique appeal and I love them all. Your plans for a hot tub should provide you with a great place to conceptualize your artwork. Good luck with the project.
ReplyDeleteThe treehouse series are wonderful. I love the colours, all of them. But I think I like the darkest of them the best. Have you made the pattern yourself?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun it would be to live on a street with tree houses such as those. Play time every day :) They look great as a unit.
ReplyDeleteCan we all bring our swimsuits?
The center lower one is hands down my favorite, love the magenta and lime thing you have going on in that one. Those are my colors! How I wish I still had the gallery, I would be contacting you in two seconds flat to get your work up here and on the wall!
