Realizing Contentment

Once upon a time, I believe it was yesterday, the concept of having real contentment burst open in my mind. I saw that everything I have was ENOUGH. Not needing more, having a sufficient amount of things is possible, and can happen.
And then to have it all in its place, neat and accessible, with plenty of visibility when one requires that item, and to have it in working order, whatever it is, is so deeply satisfying.
To walk into my room and see my bed is made, laundry put away (is this a new habit?) to have bread fresh from the oven, to have flowers spilling out over my garden walls, to have the pond flickering reflections on the house and to watch the goldfish snatch Cheerios one by one, this is sweet contentment.
And to have found my sisterhood, with a giggler, a cook, a quilter and artist, is so grand, so surprising.
And to have a husband who loves me as much as he loves his old cat. That is perfection.

  5. Congratulations! That sounds so amazingly perfect to me. What could be better than retiring from your busy quilting/teaching schedule to what you have now? I'd say that you are one blessed woman. :-)

By the way, those are some gorgeous looking bell peppers .. can't wait to see what you paint up with them.

Amen, Mel! How often we forget that the every day "simplicities" of life are the most precious. :)

  9. I found your words so comforting today. I too have everything I will ever need but the order in my life is not quite what I desire. You have strengthened me on a weak day when my sorrow is almost overwhelming. Imagine Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  11. The desire to have more, more, more can be at the root of so much unhappiness. To feel at peace with what you have is so monumental. I am so happy that your move has created so many blessings.

BTW, those peppers are just glorious.
