Dave Makes Me HAPPY

He has painted the stairs WHITE. So much nicer than the brown raw wood that is underneath.

This is the before picture. All the woodwork in the house is slated for whiteness. Dave has his winter cut out for him....but I WILL help.

I'll build a stairway to Paradise...

Sorry, but I agree with Anon! We had a beautiful house in TX that when it was built in 1978 had cedar moldings around all the windows and door frames and the previous owner painted them!!! What a way to ruin beautiful wood! But I guess if it makes you happy, that's all that matters.

  4. I love the improvement. It updates the look of the house and brings it into the 21st Century, plus it will help show off your quilts, paintings and bright colors. Gone is that clunky pine look. I am planning on painting over wood in my own home soon. Thanks for the look into your home.

Well, the white is looks very nice...now...but you might end up regretting it with all the cleaning you'll have to do....or not. In your small house, of course, it is not as oppressing as dark wood, so that could be a good thing.

I am presently trying to bring some colour into my house. My DH who is either afraid of colour or doesn't have a colour sense (which is probably the case), likes everything white. Well, he has had his time, now I would like to spend the remainder of my days with colour.

  7. Everything in my house is wood. Old wood that is difficult to clean and keep looking nice. Much of it was hand done by my husband and is beautiful work. If it wasn't for hurt feelings I would paint everything white myself. It's dark and dusty looking even when it's not. Love it clean look of the white.
The pictures of you two yesterday were so sweet. There's a 16 year difference between my sister and me. Very nice Mel.

It's a nice updated look! But I love wood too. Sometimes it's just time for a change.
