I was clearing the produce off my table to begin a new painting when I saw this little apple from our orchard in the back of the assembled multitudes. It was patiently waiting its turn and so I scrapped my original plans and decided to paint it. I had a great green apple and a lovely red one and that little guy had a bit of both colors as tho it were the decendent of the two big ones.
It reminded me of family portraits, the proud parents and their chip off the old block.
I was attracted by the vibrant colors of these apples but then I set them up in dramatic lighting and the colors became more subdued. Perhaps my tastes are being refined.
