Starting Again
p
I want to get better with paint.
I started with a small canvas, only 6x7"ish. And my subject matter is a cropped area of one of my Bon Bon quilts. The idea was to loosen up my brushstrokes and to get the feel of oil paint.
As a kid, I used oils all the time. It is not like getting back on a bike. There are a lot of voices in my head trying to derail my attempts. I figure, I'll just have to paint them into silence.

um, I like a bit of color...

  1. That's the whole game when we are adults. Try to be like a child again. Try to believe there are no critics and any thing you do will be wonderful. Forget there are any rules and experiment.

  2. I like the colors you chose. Think.....relax, relate, release....does that help? Hope so. Good luck.

One of my favorite quotes, posted in the studio:
If you hear a voice within you say, "you cannot paint", then by all means paint, and the voice will be silenced. Van Gogh

    Best of luck!
