The Duvet is Done

Sorry I have been AWOL for a few days.

The weather was so lovely, sunny and warm that we had to go out exploring....without our cameras. What fun is that to blog about, with no pictures?

And then on Sunday I sat and knit all day. No pictures until it looks like something...

Now today, we are having tremendo thunderstorms, with gobs of life giving rain, and that makes me wanna sew. So I finished my duvet and then had to rearrange my room again. Only the fourth time. Dave asked if this is the final arrangement? Who knows?

Here's the lining turned back. Note the lime green sheets. Yum! I have enough left over fabric for curtains, which will match the pink headboard and have the plaid as some sort of border.

My two new quilts adorn the walls and the chicks are on the window sill keeping me company. I must get the curtains made before the sunlight fades them.

I still have my sewing table in the room, but now it is directly at the front. The theme chair and new pink rug complete the pink/green color scheme.

My tv is still viewable from the bed, a necessary requirement. But because the chest has wheels I can also turn it to view from the studio.

Popeye has his own sleeping quarters on the balcony off my studio. That's a down sleeping bag and the previous duvet is draped over the railing, to provide him some privacy.
OK. I have made the promised curtains. The rod is held up with two screws that were here when we moved in. They are not the permanent fixture for these curtains. I thought I had curtain rings in my stash of notions, but NOT, so I resorted to using knitting marker rings.
The chickens will have to move again.

  1. Welcome back.
Your duvet cover has come out really well. Did you use an extra large seam allowance so it will survive a weekly wash? Just curious.
Another thing I notice is no curtains at the window. This is very strange for us Brits. We would very rarely place a bed directly under a window and always have a curtain for privacy (I realise you won't have anyone coming along and looking through your window) and isn't it colder there?
I like the concept of not having curtains (drapes) as it makes a room far easier (and cheaper) to change the look. Whether I (or many other Brits) could sleep without curtains or at least a blind, I'm not sure.

  4. I love that room. I also love that you are not afraid of color. The chicks are definitely necessary to the room, so I'm voting that you put a shelf above the window the same width and depth as the sill under the window. Line those chickies up!

your quilts look scrumptious and I can see why you'd love to work there.

It is all just too cute! How can you ever disturb such 'cuteness' to use that 'room'! Actually, your room is looking very very nice.

  9. I really love this arrangement for your room. And how nice to sit and sew and look down into the rest of the house - I bet something happens down there every once in a while. Maybe you can see birds off the porch? Or is the angle too sharp?
Anyway, it all looks great. I have no suggestions for the chickens. Their own shelf was mentioned.

Oh the duvet is so yummy.

  10. Your room is evolving into the most delightful color-saturated eye candy. You must enjoy it very much. Thanks for sharing the process. I agree with the others that the chickens look very sweet at the window sill.
