What's on the Needles?

The instant gratification bolero (AKA Shrug This) is finished. Mine is the one on the left, size 38 and the online pink version is size 30, which smaller than my waist. I had to make up the size difference, which is always a crapshoot. But it fits! Miracle of miracles. I think it will be good for those chilly moments in between certain hot flashes

Another cardi in process is this ripoff from Kim Hargreaves, called Dream. I saw the pictures below and considered ordering the pattern from her, from England, for 57 pounds (NOT!) and decided to try and figure it out myself.

How hard could it be? I am not so thrilled with the color of the yarn, which is Elsbeth Lavold's Silky Wool, but I think I might actually wear it, since it is not a heavy weight yarn. Can't believe I am this far along... could finish it if I have a good bunch of tv to watch. Not likely.

I am also almost finished with these sox, knit on one circular needle, with three yarns. Yes, not self striping for a change. Gold Koigu,
blue/purple Sophie's Toes
and for the heel and toe, Baby Ull. So much easier on one needle than I thought. See Magic Loop for directions.
What I really should be knitting is something like this. Another great idea from Jane Thornley. To make this quick vest I might get the courage to try steeking. Eek!
What I am considering is going to a K2TOG meeting at the Genuine Purl in Chattanooga, Monday afternoon. Only an hour away, and in a dangerously wonderful yarn shop, where I might meet gals like me. I have to bring something to 'knit and chat'. Interesting enough to talk about but not so interesting that I would have to pay attention whilst knitting.

Could it be one of these purses? I would like to make these, even tho I would never use them as purses. I cannot resist miters, as you well know. Funny that I don't have anything mitered on the needles at the moment. Must remedy that.

Lovely knitting in progress! Great socks, can't beat green and purple!

At first I thought the shrugs were wraps, and not done up under the arms. I knit shaped (not simply triangular) wraps, so they'll
    a) stay on my shoulders, but
    b) are easy to throw off when the mini tropical vacations hit...if you know what I mean. But these shrugs are verrry cute!

For 57 pounds sterling, you get a KIT for the sweater: the yarn, too, not just the pattern. But that's still over $100US before shipping. And anyway, we don' need no stinkin' pattern, right? ;)

There just might be good TV in the offing, as TCM is doing their annual "31 Days of Oscar". Makes February almost bearable.

  2. Ooooh! That's right about the Oscars on TCM. I will have to drag in a light to knit by. Dave likes to have total darkness in the 'theatre'.
