A Room of One's Own

A fresh cup of tea, Earl Grey, to start my day. It's ten steps from my bed to the refreshment stand.

I got that pink pail with the dots to use as my trash container, and it holds the swizzle stick for stirring my potions. A complete selection of lovely teas, and some powdered creamer complete the ensemble. I am trying to break the habit of cream in my tea. Not happen' yet.
The necessary room is adjacent, and has a new lime green rug, and some soon to be hung artwork. Yeah, right.

My tv is the second largest one in the house, and was just brought up here yesterday. To make the most of it, I suffered from 'malaise' for the entire afternoon, and snoozed on and off. Delightful. My day ended at 7:30 after a hard day of doing nothing.

My computer and clicker are kept handy

and the chicks keep me company.

Here at my right is my messy sewing table. I'll get to this today. I promise. The clock tells me how warm it is up here (it's not just me) and what time it is in the next time zone. It is one of those atomic clocks that picks up the time from the position it's in on the earth. We are so close to the edge of the Central and Eastern time zones, and this clock prefers the East.

Today I woke up from a deep sleep at 4:35 and decided to just a knit a bit.

One of the reasons I love patchwork knitting is that it uses up teeny bits of yarn. This square is knit from four 90 degree triangles. I have them numbered in the order they are knit. They are all 'pick up and knit' from the previous triangle. The fourth one is attached as it is knit. If you are not a knitter, you can be excused now.
Here's how:
On the wrong side, leave the last stitch on the needle, pick up the first stitch from triangle one and knit, then pass the last stitch on triangle 4 over that stitch. No sewing required!
Since this is a square of about 3", I can just make 7 or 8 across for the first row of my new cardigan (back) and see what I think. If I don't like it. I can unknit it, which is how I got all these little bits in the first place, from unknitting something else.

  1. What size needles and how many stitches did you cast on in the first triangle? It is so pretty!

  2. Your room looks so cozy but I especially envy the no schedule, schedule. I hate going to bed at 10 but if I don't I can't get the troops up and out at 6 am. I used to be a real night owl and suspect I would fall into that pattern again given the chance. Though I do love the break of day. It's so peaceful.

  5. Do you use sweetner in your tea? Splenda has come out with some flavored sweetner, maybe could that help you wean off the creamer?

    Just an idea.

    Love your space.

Love all the color you use.
By the way, the atomic clock probably has buttons on the back where you can change your time zone to the one you actually are in. At least mine does. I live on the time zone line in Indiana.
