Going Places with Quilting
]
Quilting has taken me both near and far. Japan twice, New Zealand, Canada twice and all around the country. It would be easier to say where I didn't teach, rather than where I did. In the West I didn't teach in Utah, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico and the Dakotas. In the east I haven't taught in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware or West Virginia. In the South I haven't taught in Mississippi, Louisiana, or Georgia. Neither in Alaska or Hawaii.
And I have never taught in Tennessee! I did work as a vendor when Laura and I had a booth at the Nashville show, but that wasn't combined with teaching. So if I were aiming to hit every state in the union, I have fallen short, but it sure seems like I have been everywhere.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and am missing the teaching already. The airports you can keep, but the classes and the guilds are so fun. Maybe I will have a chance to teach again in Tennessee. After I get settled...

ReplyDeleteSorry which bit of 'I'm retiring' did I misunderstand?
I can see you begging to buy back those racks (grin)
Sally
You are so not retiring!!! But, I think you will reinvent yourself and your life's work. My gosh, your Cary garden looks like Portland where every thing growns, all year round!!
ReplyDeleteRetire?? Ya, right! LOL I retired 5 years ago because my husband and I sold our house and everything in it and decided to be "full-timers" out on the road. We bought a 40' trailer and set out with our 2 cats to see the country. We did that for 4 years and got to the point we were tired of traffic and road construction and wanted a "home" base. We bought a house again...this time in TX and after buying furniture and getting the house in order, I got bored and went back to work full time. Besides, I was tired of paying for my health insurance. Ridiculously expensive....and I'm healthy!!! Anyway, my point is...I see you getting bored after a while and you're way too creative to "retire". I think you're tired and you need a break. You'll be re-buying those drying racks....even if it's just for your own use. Take a small piece of advice...don't get rid of all your stuff. You'll be sorry. Take it slow. :)
ReplyDeleteI still have my Melody Johnson Classics that I bought in New Zealand in 2003. Phew! They're probably investment pieces now! (And as somebody who "retired" from professional lawyering three years ago, I can assure you that my days are as busy as ever, it's just the content/focus that is different.)
