The River Series goes to town

I am pleased to announce that this group of quilts, The River Series, will be shown at the fifth biennial “Pushing theSurface” show at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton, Ohio.

The show will run from May 19th through August 19th , 2007.

"Pushing the Surface" is a popular tradition running concurrently with Quilt National. The nice thing for me is not having to send slides or enter anything. I was asked and could refer the curator to my alternate blog New Works for the choice of available work. Wouldn't it be nice if all shows were this easy to be involved in?

On a related note, when I was teaching last month in Denver I met with the owner of Translations Gallery. I happen to have a bunch of small and large pieces with me, as I was doing two guild programs, so it was nothing to whip out Matchstick Moons #1 and #2 and hand them over, with a few other smaller works. I have been thinking about getting gallery representation for a few years, and just procrastinating.

Matchstick Moons #2

Now that I have made that committment, I have someplace to send my larger works, which is one more thing off my list.

Dave and I are planning on our look-see trip to the South. We are leaving on Monday and have the good feeling that we may have settled on a place just right for us. It is on the edge of the Blue Ridge in a small town with a university. I am not being specific because we may not love it and then we both will have to deal with the disappointment.

I will say this, Dave is starting to imagine what it would be like and seeing him so happy like this means everything to me.

O and one more good thing: My sister Brooke called me from Singapore this morning, which was a surprise. She has made a new quilt which is just terrific. I am one happy and proud sister today.

Good luck with the house hunting and here's hoping it's a great trip! As for your sister's new quilt, WOW!!!! It is amazing. I saw it before I read your blog today and it knocked my socks off. I can't wait to see what that girl does next! Every new quilt is better and more inspiring than the last.

  8. Will you be in Coschocton any time during the show? I live just a short distance from there, and visited the museum for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I'll be gathering some quilties to see the show, and we always love to talk to the artist!
