The Heat is On!
Last Monday as I was paying bills I noticed that we had a really low balance on our mortgage. So I girded my loins and called the bank for a payout letter. I expected to be put on hold for hours, but I lucked out and got a person in less than five minutes. I asked to have the payout letter sent to us, figuring it would take ten days or more and then hung up.
Then I began to worry that I should have waited, as I hadn't yet found out what our income tax bill would be, but it all has to be paid, so I just gulped and went back to house hunting.
Yesterday my accountant, Karen called to say that the taxes were ready and when I picked them up, I was shocked to see we had refunds coming from both federal and state! Wow! It has been years since I have seen a refund. Arriving at home, I checked the mail and there was the payout letter..ALREADY. And it was quite pay-OFF-ABLE!
So here we are on Easter morning, out of debt, taxes paid and 30 houses to see in the South!
And if that isn't enough, our realtor called and we will have a viewer on Monday, so we have decided to get on the road today. Back to the dusting, vacuuming and shining up the place.

Congratulations! Coincidentally, DH and I are sending in our mortgage payoff tomorrow! What a great feeling - especially since we don't have to pair it with house hunting. Good luck finding the perfect home!
