Nevermind...
It turns out that this house is way too small, and has no place to put all our stuff. Especially guests, but not even a spot big enough to have my small insignificant studio.
On the other hand, Dave found a huge house which will be finished to our specs...if we like the area.
Back to the drawing board.
Love at first sight

I am completely sold on this house. I must have this house. I can't wait to see this in person.
It is killing me.
You'll know it when you see it, and that's the way it has always been for us. Now I am satisfied, and done with the search. If only I could send Dave and make an offer I would do it immediately. But I cannot. I must not. It would be stupid to do this. And yet...
++++++++
This is how I felt when I met Dave. I was so positive he was the ONE, and so afraid that I would be disappointed and find out he wasn't. My heart was pounding in my chest for days, as I 'interviewed' him and asked hard questions. I was so focused and not romantic at all. The dating game was horrid, and I went through candidates like they were job applicants. I knew what I wanted and wasn't going to let romance sway me. But I was hopelessly in love already and wanted him to be the good guy I was looking for.
And he was and still is. And now I want this house for him. It is on a lake of all things, and has the porch, the bubble tub and the two acres.
And it is in Mississippi.
What?

I can see the quilts hanging over the railing to air on a brisk fall day...does it get brisk there? And of course I see you on a rocker knitting to your heart's desire while watching Dave land another big one in the lake...oh my...a gorgeous home....I like it a lot....the number one rule (dare we forget) is....location, location, location..it's in a good one, right?

  8. Oh, man, look at those windows. Go get it! What are you waiting for!

A lot of people live in Mississippi and love it.

  9. Who wouldn't want a house like that????? There ought to be a law that all houses look as wonderful as that house - and everyone should be able to afford it. I hope you get it and take lots of pictures to share.

Oh, wow. The windows. It would almost be like living outdoors. It looks marvelous!

  11. Holy cow, that's not a house, that's swiss cheese. You could of course live happily ever after in MI-crooked letter-crooked letter-IPP. It's also very close to Missouri! Hey, that's a thought, why don't you move to Missouri and we could hang out!

  13. The windows! Oh wow, can you imagine what beautiful daylight you would have in the house?! Perfect for doing art and just enjoying life. :-)

Wishing you lots of luck in obtaining the "one" house.

  14. Oh my -- the light, the light -- the beautiful light and on two acres who needs to worry about closing the drapes? And weather that isn't quite as tempramental (is that a nice way of saying crazy, annoying, etc.?) as Illinois!

It is a very nice house (reservations here). Before you make an offer consider an independent appraisal...it looks to be a wooden house so there might be other things to consider like renovations(as in woodworms), upkeep etc. But I am sure you know these things. Doesn't the top balcony look wonderfully inviting....coming out in the early morning onto the balcony to breathe some fresh air!

Beautiful house! Have you buried St. Joe in the yard yet to help with your sale?

Looks pretty good to me. Love all the windows (hell, you can hire someone to come out and do them- we get ours in FLA done every month). And there is nothing wrong with Mississippi. It's a beautiful state (if a tad warm and humid for me in summer but every other season is delighful). Ironically, the Today Show did a bit on misconceptions regarding the state just this morning (Monday) but I missed most of it as the painters showed up....

Well, i hate to be negative, but i don't care how close the house near Atlanta is to IKEA - pick another IKEA. Atlanta is hell on earth - no one walks anywhere and the traffic is horrible.

As for Mississippi, it is a cultural wasteland. My husband is from there and we have to go every year to visit his family. No quilt shops much, no shopping, no IKEA, no culture, no decent outreach programs, nothing but heat, boredom and gnats. Ugh. I'd rather live in New Jersey - that's how bad it is.

What happened to Asheville, NC? Lots of fun, beautiful scenery, not too much cold weather, lots of very artsy folks. If I didn't live in Charleston, I'd live there.

  28. I'm so sorry this wasn't the house for you guys, I fell in love with it too. Still, the one with the purple kitchen looks fun, just not as romantic looking.
