Promenade of Pears

Promenade of Pears
Hand dyed cottons, hand and machine quilted. ~12" squarish

Kind of an overblown title? I wanted to include all the pears I love, including Asian Pears, and then I thought, Asian Pear Alley? But what about Barlett Pears, and those great red pears? So I decided the title could incorporate all the pears, and then have that bit of blue as contrast.

The pale colors represent the white-pink flesh of the pears. Almost a transparent color. I was holding these light pastels in my stash for all this time, waiting for a reason to use them.

  1. What a great and unusual color scheme for you to use! Doesn't it feel great to make those weird colors look so good!?
I hope you are planning a dying day soon...and a trip to Hobby Lobby...

Oh that is gorgeous, pears are my favourite fruit and the subtle colours with the pure blue setting them off..is just sensational. This is by far my favourite of your new series.

Very quiet, very peaceful. Not my usual colours but I love it and can appreciate just the same.

  11. I have seen the series a few times and like it a lot. But today I looked at the Pear Alley and had a whif of pear smell. Perfect.
