Majesty

Majesty
Hand Dyed Special Edition Cottons, fused, hand and machine quilted. 20.25" x 8.5"

I chose the name because of the royal blue and magenta.

This quilt takes advantage of the predyed color scheme in a panel of Special Edition cotton. The water spreads the dye in pools that overlap and blend into colors 'that have no name'. These in between blends are nuetrals in comparison to the vibrant clear areas and offer a subtle support without clashing. The addition of some nearly solid blue and violet grounds the color scheme.

The fabric is dyed three layers deep so that the dye will soak through and not spill all over the place. When it is washed out I can never tell which was the top, middle or bottom sheet. They all look exactly the same.

And is this a recent dye picture, or one from the archives?

  2. This series of art is luscious ... yummy .... delicious.

Pertaining to your earlier statement about personal preference or relating to a particular format, I like these rectangular pieces even more when viewed vertically as opposed to horizontally. It's amazing how the dynamics of shapes/relations can change with that quarter turn.

  6. My first thought on seeing this one:

    ooooh!

As for dyeing: my husband asked me to get some dyes just like yours, because he'd like to experiment. His wish is my command. Yes!
