Mini Bolero

Size 10.5 needles made this a quickie knit, over two nights of tv watching. The yarn is Rowan Magpie, a miserably hard and stiff yarn to knit. But I got a free sample of Eucalan and I soaked the finished product in that and it did the trick. The yarn was a half priced bargain, which is what I like to use to try out a pattern before I use the nice stuff I have in the stash.

The ribbing starts out as K3 P2 and is increased after an inch to K3 P3 which is what makes that increase visible mid rib. The original pattern yarn was fluffy and probably would have hid that increase.

I like to keep the front closed so I devised this finish, which was not in the pattern. I used a crochet chain stitch, sort of couching the ribbing and extending the chain into the ties.

Here is the free pattern

Regarding your blog yesterday and the comment you left about the wine, try Wild Horse Merlot (2004) if you haven't already. It's about $12.99 a bottle and very tasty I thought. Mucho flavor and body.

By the way, I was just kidding about the bread not being on the diet thing. You didn't have to defend yourself! Honest!

Thanks for the pattern. I am knitting it in purple and lime green stripes - not. But seriously, I have wanted a bolero to wear over a purple top and pants that just seems to plain and I am tired of scarves. I think I will try it when I get the sweater done for Milo.

  9. I'm with Brooke-if I wore something like that with my boobage I'd look like I was wearing a floatation device. On you-very cha cha cha...Happy Turkey day to you and Dave...how come he hasn't left me any salty messages yet?

The bolero looks great on you, too.
