Bye Bye BMW
It was fun while it lasted, but the time to sell it was clear and by dinner tomorrow the new owner, Sergei from Russia, I kid you not, will be at the wheel.
There were a few tears involved in passing on the red beauty, but Dave says,
"It's all good."
He feels that with each of the things that he has had to give up due to his disease, he leaves with a sense of pride. When he had to stop playing baseball, he was still on the All-Star team. When the motorcycles had to go, he had not injured himself or the bikes. When he gave up the guitar, he gave it away on his blog in a Beatles story writing contest.
So we will carry on with the next challenge and see what that brings us.
As long as he keeps you all is well...you are priceless.
ReplyDeleteSmart move but a huge decision for Dave I imagine.
ReplyDeleteMy next door neighbour found a new man a few years ago (about 3). I was so happy for her because unlike her X of some 25yrs of marriage he is very kind, courteous to her and us and openly affectionate with her...like I said unlike her X (that bulldog). He was a practising Pediatrician up to 2mths ago when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease. It is so very sad for them both and this disease is progressing so quickly that he now rarely leaves the house. He seems to be frozen in a time-frame when doing simple tasks like sweeping leaves.
She is totally stressed but tries to cope.
I hope Dave adjusts quickly to this loss of 'independence'.
Attitude is everything, and Dave has the support he needs to handle anything that comes at him. Have you ever heard of the Enneagram, a unique theory of 9 different personality types. Not about changing anyone, more about understanding your own personality and how (and why) you react to others. Clearly, you and Dave have an remarkable relationship.
ReplyDeleteI'll give Steve the bad news. Only yesterday he was dreaming of that car. But, if you snooze you loose!
