Silk stars and confetti, with strips to be cut
I am thinking that this is the last week of summer vacation and the rest of the world is preparing for a last fling with Labor Day parties and canning tomatoes and back to school. The natural timing of the seasonal events helps focus my thoughts on this extended project.
Patterns of positive shapes and negative spaces are so mesmerizing to me as I work, but this cutting and fusing is going to take most of this week to accomplish and I will need books on tape, or my brain will atrophy. So to the library this morning to return the books I have and get new ones.
I just listened to Jane Fonda's My Life So Far which was entertaining and even brought new insight into the VietNam war, which I didn't expect. Plus she spent most of her life feeling massively insecure, another example that being well adjusted is overrated.
I absolutely love what I am seeing here...l.o.v.e...it....have you trained Popeye how to fussy cut yet?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow, are you actually cutting out those x's? And how many have stuck to your iron?
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great. I had Anne's Colorplay flash in my mind when I first saw it. Keep up the good work. Now, I have to get busy.
Your friend/neighbor is bound to fall in love with this happy work!! Are you really cutting out all those little stars by hand. Of course you are.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think anything could top the Matchstick Moons, but I really like this a lot!
ReplyDeleteOh I am just loving the combination of the moon and the beloved Melody x-shaped flower. Try "gods in Alabama" and "Between Georgia" both read by author Joshilyn Jackson. You'll be imitating a Southern drawl after a chapter or two!
ReplyDeleteMrs Melilicious! Makes me swoon!
ReplyDeleteOOH! I love the flower/star thing going on there. Can't wait to see how it ends up... and I appreciate your reminding us again of how useful it was to quilt the negative spaces before hand. GOOD idea.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! But how in the world are you cutting out those x's?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! I would go nuts cutting all of those little stars out! By the way, I'm glad that everyone came out of the accident unscathed. You all looked like you took it well. I would be a wreck.. even if it wasn't my fault!
ReplyDeleteMissy Mel,
ReplyDeleteThose are the little "jacks" you were teaching the guild a couple weeks ago. I love your new style, the matchsticks are wonderful, ditto the circles and jacks. What next.... gear flowers or ????I can't wait to read your blog each day. You are one creative person.
