Dear Frieda and Tommy,

In the interest of art I have chosen this picture of you two walking in the wind on the beach last summer, to be the subject material for my next painting experiment.

I wanted to show you the underpainting so that you know I started off with very good intentions.

This is Tommy, trust me.

This is Frieda, altho she is wearing someone else's teeth.

I am guessing that Tommy's ring may not make it into the next level of this work.

And Frieda's feet may disappear completely by the time they are painted.

I have made some minor adjustments to the derrieres as you may note. It was the first thing that Dave noticed. We are going for a balance here.
My aim is to obliterate the details and go for the shapes, so say Bye Bye to all that is in the underpainting and just know that my heart was in the right place when I began.

  2. I am looking forward to seeing the progression. I have a picture of my daughter that I want to paint and I have been overthinking it but I think I will follow your good example and post a picture on my blog!

lucky them-they get to be subjects of a soon to be famous painting. I love the underpaintings all by themselves. My God, you're just exceptional-is there anything you can't do?
