Monday's Class
I wasn't happy with that black square in the middle so I switched it out with a block of mid-range darks and I am now much happier.
After!
After!
This was my sample quilt which I made on the spot along with the class. Mine is pitiful compared with theirs. I had better pay attention or they will run me over with their creativity!
The one Graduate student, who already knows how to fuse and how to dye beautiful fabric. If I should die, she could take over for me.
I cannot say which one is my favorite, but I would gladly swap mine for anyone's in the class.
That was the morning exercise. The afternoon was HARDER. We had to gather our fabrics and make five sets of values. We used the black and white settings on our digital cameras as a value aid. The fabrics that were 'wrong' jumped right out visibly.
I had already made my value sets, so while they made their difficult choices, I played at composing small blocks.
Things did not fall into place as they did on Sunday when I was alone, but finally I tried that stacking concept again and had some success.
Once again, these are only one layer deep. It is an optical illusion that makes it seem as tho the blue is the base fabric and all are piled on top of it. I love this concept and will try today to make a larger version. NOT in the same colors...
What lovely quilts. They are gorgeous!!
