Studio Time
I am finally done cleaning the house, doing laundry, organizing closests, and have a well stocked refrigerator, so nothing prevents me from entering the studio.
It is a dumping ground, but hopefully I can clear a path and begin a new piece. There is a big elephant in the room. Ellipses is calling out to be quilted, but I have a nagging desire to make something small and fun before I tackle quilting that big one.
PS. I found my red shawl. It was in the laundry...
PPS. Bad wonder-under: I bought two new bolts of Wonder-Under and found again that the paper is still bad out there. If you have some of that bad batch, please return it and make the store aware that it is out there. The sooner the company gets it off the market the better for us all.
In the meantime, it turns out that Frieda Anderson is right, parchment paper from the grocery store works the same as good release paper. I used it in my workshop last Saturday and it was great. Still we shouldn't have to do that!

  1. When I read of all your 'nesting' I thought you were procrastinating about starting new work. After today's blog, I realize that it was necessary. I apologize for thinking less of you than perfection.

  2. I am with you dear thin one....my studio looks like it was hit by a tornado but since I am leaving this weekend, I am playing the avoidance game. However, it is number one with a bullet when I come home.....with more than a month off. Ya hoo! Glad you found your scarf and now since you have two, remember how gorgeous I look in red.

I know you and Frieda have both mentioned the bad wonder under and I knew about the parchment paper. But my question is - How are you getting the paper off the back of the fabric. Without getting the paper off, the fabric is no good. Have you heard of any good techniques for getting that paper off other than the tedious picking and pulling that isn't successful?

  4. Dear Anonymous,
Don't use the stinkin' paper. Peel off the fusible and use a teflon sheet to fuse the glue on. You are stuck unpeeling the paper on the stuff that you already fused, although I know if it sits overnight it does peel off better.
